Final product 'REEM' - TOWIE parody

Audience Feedback

We asked the two people who gave us the feedback on our roughcut, to give us feedback on our final improved trailer and this is what they said;

  • 'The final trailer was much better than the roughcut, i thought it looked more proffessional and the music fitted a lot better than before' - Luke Wainhouse
  • 'With the title card placed at the end it makes the whole trailer seem more realistic and gives the programme brand identity' - Jack Kane

My Final Magazine Ancillary

This is my final magazine ancillary that I developed from my first draft.

Audience Profile

This is an audience mood board we developed after researching the social groups and the interests of the people who watch shows similar to ours such as TOWIE and Made in Chelsea

Planning for front cover

Location Shots

Planning For Ancillaries

Planning characters and locations

We established the characters by looking at the existing characters in TOWIE and built our seperate characters around them, For example we knew that Joey Essex was renound for his short shorts so our character 'Fred Perry' wore short shorts and the girls were made to wear tacky clothing to make them look as fake as possible to represent the glamour etc..

Magazine ancillary draft 3

Audience Feedback

Constructive Criticism
  • I think the subtitles 'BAMFORD' and 'GEORGE STREET' would look better in red now the masthead is in yellow.
  • Maybe shift the bar code to the right hand side of the magazine

Magazine ancillary draft 2

Audience feedback

Constructive Criticism

  • The 'EXCLUSIVE' tab needs to be more clear, maybe but a translucent box behind it.
  • The name 'SCREEN' suggests there is more than just a soap inside.
  • How would the masthead look in bright yellow?

TV & SATELLITE magazine was my main inspiration when designing my own magazine as you can see i followed some of the regular conventions such as the colour coding and the traditional strap on the top of the magazine this links in with Q1 about how I used and developed convetions, I challenged some of the conventions by using a three shot as the main image which isnt a ragular occurance for TV magazines like this one.

    Magazine ancillary draft 1

    Audience Feedback

    Constructive Criticism
    • Remove image of sunglasses from Google and maybe change the top masthead if you're not able to get a photo of the sunglasses yourself.
    • Change the name of the magazine, needs to be something more original
    • The background works but challenges the standard conventions.
    • Change up the fonts/colours/sizes cos they are all to similar
    • Add barcode and price

    TOWIE Parody roughcut.

    Audience Feedback

    Constructive Criticism
    • The sound needs turning up at the part where we are in the car.
    • Non diegetic song needs turning down so the speech of characters can be mroe clearly heard
    • 'I think the trailer was really funny and entertaining and the song suited the trailer, but it could have been edited better to fit the cuts so it didn't give the right connotations' - Luke Wainhouse
We took this feedback on the non diegetic song and edited it in 'GarageBand' on the Apple Macs, to fit with the cuts in the trailer. And ducked the sound so that you were able to hear the dialougue of the characters.

    • 'It doesn't have any title cards so i didn't know what channel its on or the branding of the programme' - Jack Kane
So i had to go into 'Key Note' on the Macs to produce an E4 styled title card, using the E4 styleguide on teh internet to help me do it.
